Hotham Sound Kayak Tour
Suitable for all levels of kayaking, whether it’s your first time or you’re an experienced veteran. The Sunshine Coast’s Hotham Sound is the perfect place to get your paddles wet.
The tour starts right after breakfast at the Lodge. You and your guide will be ferried on a short, scenic boat cruise across Jervis Inlet to Hotham Sound. Here you will explore not only one of the deepest waterways on the BC coast but one of its warmest.
Once into Hotham Sound, you will slip into your kayak and paddle to Freil Falls, which at 1400 feet tall is considered to be the longest free-standing waterfall between here and Alaska. Depending upon the time of year and the amount of recent rainfall, the sound of the falls has been compared to thunder; don’t be surprised if you can hear it from a mile away.
After paddling, you may want to take advantage of the excellent water conditions to go swimming or diving for oysters and more than likely you will have worked up an appetite, so let the guide take you to one of their favorite spots.
After a little break and a bite to eat from our gourmet snack we will have prepared, hop back in your kayak and paddle to the head of the Sound to be picked up and taken back to the resort. Just before you depart, don’t forget to take a picture.
Twilight TourCatch the last glow of sunset, as you venture out to kayak under the moon and stars for a truly magical experience. Observe the serene, black silk waters, with your friends and family keeping an eye out for marine life, or a sudden sparkle of phosphorescence.
